A taxi dispatch and management solution for a leading private hire company in Paris

The Challenge

Today LeCab is one of the leading private hire and taxi companies in France. The company was founded in 2012 to provide a chauffeur-style service at a ‘taxi’ price point.

LeCab approached Haulmont due to their successful deployment and continued management of Addison Lee’s Shamrock solution. LeCab believed that a similar system would provide a foundation to scale their business and offer competitive advantage across France. The business was launched in 2012 with 30 vehicles operating in Paris.


Lecab launched with Haulmont’s Sherlock Taxi managing all aspects of their business, from booking, dispatch and job execution through to invoicing, driver wages and management information.

  • LeCab’s strategy was to build brand awareness through word of mouth recommendations, focusing on consumer work to grow the fleet until they could target corporate clients. Sherlock Taxi’s iPhone and Android customer apps would be critical to attracting young, high-spending retail customers.

    Sherlock Taxi’s auto-allocator was configured to allocate work on the basis of ‘closest car’ – meaning that customer response time was the most important factor to be considered when distributing jobs. This meant that a car could be dispatched and arrive at a pick-up within a seven minute response time across central Paris.


Within three years of launching, LeCab had a fleet of over 1,000 vehicles and had become the fastest growing ground transportation company in France, serving hundreds of thousands of passengers and over 3,000 corporate accounts. By June 2017, this figure had grown to more than 2,000 vehicles.

LeCab has featured multiple times on television, in newspapers and magazines such as Les Echos, Le Figaro, Vogue, and ELLE and also has an impressive account client base featuring Société Générale, Christian Dior and Pernod Ricard. LeCab has regular partnerships and integrations with local companies to maximize exposure and offers and continues to innovate by launching a new iPhone app and integrating with SNCF railways for automated pick-ups. Over 90% of LeCab's total bookings are made through the mobile apps and web.
