At the end of April, the CUBA platform team took part in the ‘Great Indian Developer Summit’ (GIDS) 2017. GIDS is held in Bangalore — the ‘Indian Silicon Valley’, home to global tech giants such as Infosys, Wipro, Oracle, etc.

This year’s event celebrated GIDS 10th anniversary with 4,000 delegates attending the four-day conference, the majority of whom were experienced or senior developers. Each day of the conference had a different theme with dedicated time spent on topics such as mobile development, Java and DevOps.


AfriCab is a driven and innovative start-up based in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. It was founded in January 2016 and primarily focuses on corporate accounts while offering a fleet of 60 new vehicles that are perfectly maintained to ensure passenger safety. All the drivers are professionally trained to meet the expectations of an increasingly demanding service.


The team presented the CUBA platform at JPoint 2017, an international Java conference held on 7-8th April 2017 in the WTC Congress Center, Moscow. The main topics of the conference were productivity, parallelism, testing, distributed systems and high loads in the Java world, as well as the future of the platform.

Haulmont Technology’s leading software product, CUBA Platform, was recognised as one of the most interesting and significant developments Russian enterprise software in 2016 according to PCMag Russia. 

The award recognised that CUBA Platform v6.3 stands out as it is an open source technology and runs on an open architecture. CUBA Platform includes three-tiered architecture, a variety of integration components and automation tools for developing process. The system is compatible with most OS, DBMS, Web-servers and cloud platforms, and developers can use familiar tools, such as Java IDE.


On Sunday 6th March we hosted our ‘Winter Family Day’ at ski lodge, Chaika. The annual event is held for Haulmont employees and their families. It is an opportunity for employees to have some fun outside of work and take part in exciting events including skiing relays. For the less active, tea and shish kebabs were served!


Addison Lee, Europe’s leading private vehicle hire company, been awarded ‘Best use of Credit Technology’ at the 2017 CICM British Credit Awards. The award was in recognition of the implementation of Cybersource solutions for credit card transactions and fraud detection.


The new 6.4 release of CUBA Platform and CUBA Studio has recently been published. Whilst version 6.3 focused on architectural and technical improvements, this new release is designed to enable faster development and introduces a range of convenient functionality for the user. The new version brings new visual components for the generic user interface, a new mainstream validation mechanism, an engine for an alternative JavaScript front-end generation and other important improvements.

With 2016 being such a busy year for the CUBA team, I decided to recap our journey through the year and the key milestones.

Obviously, the greatest  - and very challenging change —  was taking CUBA open source in April. Now the platform is absolutely free and distributed under Apache 2.0 - with no runtime restrictions on CUBA applications. Our goal was to free up applications built with CUBA from any license restrictions: we had concerns that the previous license was discouraging too many developers from trying the framework.
